Revision of ISO 9001 expected to be published in 2026.

Revision of ISO 9001 expected to be published in 2026.

The publication of the new revision of ISO 9001 is expected to be postponed until 2026. The reason for this is that the first draft has been returned to the working group due to extensive feedback from stakeholders. A revised ‘Committee Draft 2’ is to follow.

🔍 Reasons for the revision
– The current version dates from 2015 and is outdated.
– ISO standards are to be reviewed every five years.
– New requirements such as climate protection, sustainability and ethics are to be integrated.
– The aim is also to improve compatibility with other standards.
🌍 Focus on climate change
– Amendments that take climate change into account in management systems were already introduced in 2024.
– Companies must check whether they are affected (e.g. by CO₂ targets) and take appropriate measures.
🏢 What companies should do now
– Make adjustments to the quality management system at an early stage.
– Actively address energy efficiency and climate protection.
– Integrate the new requirements into existing systems now.
– Make use of the three-year transition period after publication.
The delay offers companies the opportunity to prepare strategically for the upcoming changes and secure competitive advantages.
